David A. Kern, 47, of West Lawn, Berks County, former basketball coach at Slatington High School, died Saturday in Grandview Hospital, Sellersville, of injuries suffered in an accident Sept. 19.
Mr. Kern, a district sales manager for the Curtis Publishing Company, was injured last month when his car was struck by a runaway tractor-trailer unit on Route 309 in Sellersville.
Russell J. T. Ferris, Bucks County coroner, said his death was caused by a blood clot on the heart which resulted from the accident.
Mr. Kern, a native of Slatington, attended the high school there, and was graduated from Ursinus College. He was a member of the Slatington High School faculty from 1928 to 1935 and coached basketball teams during that time.
Surviving are wife, Dorothy, two children, Dotty Ellen and Brian, at home, and four sisters.
