(Lieut.) Isaac Wightman, born 13 March 1744/5. in Groton, New London County, Connecticut; died there 4 August 1816. He married 31 October 1765, Lucretia Packer, born 23 may 1747 in Groton; died there 20 April 1819, daughter of John and Hannah (Avery) Packer.

Lieutenant Isaac Wightman was a soldier in the Continental Army, and made a record for outstanding bravery. After marriage his homestead wasa part of the original tract in Groton bequeathed by Reverend Valentine to Reverend Timothy. He was both a farmer and a cooper.
