George H. Dilcher, son of James and Abigail (Beisel) Dilcher, was born in Allentown, Feb. 26, 1864. His educational advantages were obtained by attendance at the public schools of Catasauqua, and early in life he entered the
employ of his father as an assistant in his bakery. He thoroughly mastered the trade and worked as a journeyman for his father until 1893, in which year he succeeded him in the management of the business and conducted it in a successful manner until Nov 1, 1907, when he disposed of it and removed to Allentown, where he established a real estate and insurance business, and in course of time became an extensive builder in Allentown and vicinity. He is a member of the board of directors of the Lehigh National Bank, at Catasauqua, a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Catasauqua, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Modem Woodmen of America.

Mr. Dilcher, married Laura C.Hummel, daughter of the late William and Matilda (Solt) Hummel, of Kreidersvifle, Pa., who were the parents of seven other children as follows: Amanda, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Meta, Clara, and Freeman. Mrs. Dilcher is a member of the Linden Street Methodist Epicopal church, of Allentown. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Dilcher: Emma Luella, educated in the public schools and Catasauqua high school, graduating from the latter named institution; Harry James, educated in the public schools, now studying mechanical engineering at Lehigh University, South Bethlehem.
