WILLIAM JENNINGS, son of William Jennings, who raised a company for the war of 1812-14, but who died suddenly before the company left home; he went to Harrisburg, Pa., about the year 1823, to learn blacksmithing, subsequently establishing a foundry, which he successfully carried on until near the close of his life. He was an enterprising citizen, active and influential in the public affairs of the municipality from 1830 to 1850, and in the church, of which he and his wife were consistent members, (the first Methodist,) prominent and zealous.
