WILLIAM DICK BOAS, learned the art of printing with George Getz, of Reading, on the Berks and Schuylkill Journal, and afterward worked at his profession in Philadelphia, Allentown, and Harrisburg. In 1837, he purchased an interest in the Reporter office, at Harrisburg, in partnership, first, with Samuel D. Patterson, and then with William F. Copeland, retiring in 1842.
During this period, he was printer of the journals and bills of the House and Senate. He was cashier and clerk in the State Treasury Department during the administrations of Bickel, Bailey, Magraw, and McGrath, about nine years in all; was a clerk in the Surveyor General's office, and four years prothonotary of the county of Dauphin. From 1866 to 1868, he was one of the publishers of the Patriot.
