A well-known medical practitioner in the person of Dr. Howard B. Erdman died quite suddenly at his home at Macungie, Pa., on May 11, 1932. He was in his fifty-first year. Deceased was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and after his course served as interne in several hospitals. Later he became assistant to the head physician at the Wernersville Asylum and as such was employed there for several years. Then he came home and associated in business with his father, the late Dr. William B. Erdman, who died November 30, 1918, after having served an extended practice at Macungie; had also been a member of the State Legislature, was president of the Lehigh County Medical Society, likewise was active in the public schools of the county and his native town where he was otherwise interested in civic matters. After the latter's death, the son succeeded to his father's practice which had extended for a period of about sixty years and embraced a wide territory in the community. He was for years county physician and stood high in his profession.

Dr. Erdman was married twice. His first wife was a daughter of the late Richard J. DeLong and his wife, of Philadelphia, who died in 1920, and on March 10, 1931, he married Miss Evelyn Zellner, daughter of Dr. Charles and Flora Zellner, of Allentown. There were no children of either marriage.
