Charles H. Yeager, head of the former firm of L. H. Yeager and Co., and prominent businessman and civic leader, died on December 16, 1939, at the Baer hospital, where he had been a patient for a week. He was 69 years of age.

Death was due to a heart ailment, from which he suffered for some time.

Mr. Yeager, active in banking and real estate circles of Allentown for the last quarter century, was president of the Yeager firm, dealers in crockery and chinaware, until its liquidation on Jan. 1, 1989, and he was at the time of his death a director of the Allentown National bank.

A native of Allentown, he was born Nov. 1, 1870, a son of Lesher H. and Tillie, nee Sheldon, Yeager. He attended the public schools and Media Preparatory school, Media, Pa., and following graduation in 1889 entered business with his father. The same year he married Adele Yost, of Bethlehem, who preceded him in death ten years.

In May, 1937, he remarried, taking as his wife the former Louise Allen of Boston, who survives.

One daughter by his first marriage, Hilda M., wife of Charles Applegate, this city, also survives, as does a sister. Minnie, wife of Edwin A. Donecker of Lanark, and three grandchildren, Louise Applegate Graner and Jeanne and Doris Applegate, all of this city. A sister; Mrs. Jennie Raymond of Macungie R. D., died about three weeks ago;

Mr. Yeager was active in the social, religious and civic life of the community. He was an active supporter of Ebenezer Evangelical church, of which he had been a member for many years.

Among his fraternal affiliations were Greenleaf lodge, Lehigh Consistory and Rajah Temple, all Masonic bodies.
