PETER J. F. WENNER son of Peter, was born May 11, 1860 in South Whitehall. He was educated in the public school and Muhlenberg College, and at the age of twenty years began to teach school and taught, in the South Whitehall and Knappenberger buildings. He began fanning in 1890 on an eighteen-acre tract, formerly the Jonas Rauch homestead. He was county auditor for two terms from 1905 to 1911; also township assessor for eighteen continuous years, a larger period than any other of this township. He was prominently identified with Sunday school work, served as a teacher many years and officiated as superintendent of the Crackersport Union Sunday school from 1885 to 1900. He is a member of Guthsville Camp. No. 378, P. O. S. of A., and in politics is a Democrat. In 1889, Mr. Wenner was married to Ida, daughter of Wilson and Mary (Stettler) Heilman. They have four children: Edna H., married Raymond Wright, and has a daughter, Hilda W.; Hattie H.; Lottie H., and Naomi H.
