George Wetherhold, the third son of John, was born Feb. 17, 1801, in Lynn township and learned the trade of tailor, which he carried on for a time. He removed to Allentown and conducted a hotel business for upward of thirty years, at the northwest corner of Seventh and Hamilton street, for six years, (known as the Eagle Hotel), and then on the southeast corner of Seventh and Walnut streets for twenty-five years. During his service of six years, his residence was in the county prison, the office of prison warden not yet having been created. He died Oct. 4, 1869.
