John Adam, was born there Aug. 6, 1766 and learned the trade of tanner. In 1810, he located at Millerstown (Macungie) where he purchased a farm of 105 acres from his father-in-law, Rev. Jacob Van Butt D.D., and established a tannery, which he carried on successfully for many years. He was selected one of the first grand jurors of Lehigh County after its erection in 1812. He died July 28, 1820. He was married to Lydia Van Buskirk, born June 14, 1779, died Deember 17, 1865. They had seven sons and a daughter.
