Rev. George W. Gross Dead. The Well Known Evangelical Parson Died Wednesday Night at Bethlehem. The sad news of the death of Rev. George W. The reverend gentleman was only ill a few days and few even knew that he was sick. Deceased was pastor of the United Evangelical Church at Bethlehem. He was an exceptionally good pulpit orator, a tireless worker and made friends wherever he went. He was aged about fifty seven years and during the war of the rebellion served his country faithfully. He was with Sherman and his brave boys in their famous march from Atlanta to the sea and had a vivid recollection of many incidents of the journey and frequently lectured on the subject. In Grand Army circles he was always welcome. He stood high in the Councils of the Evangelical Church. Before the division of the church he served as pastor of the Lehighton congregation. This was about eighteen years ago. Besides his widow he is survived by one son Horace S. Gross, also of Bethlehem.
