Frank P. Schantz died on August 10, 1931, aged 56 years. His family moved to Parryville, Pa., where he received his education. He returned to Allentown as a young man and entered the employ of the Grand Union Tea Company, serving as clerk and then as traveling man for nine years. Then he entered the government service and soon after became letter carrier for District 16 in the west end of Allentown where more than twenty years he served the citizens acceptably and won a multitude of lifelong friends.

On May 1, 1920, Mr. Schantz resigned his post with the government to take up a business career as insurance agent and broker. In the nine years of his service as an insurance agent, Mr. Schantz won many friends through his kindliness, honesty and efficiency.

Mr. Schantz was a member of the Trinity Congregational Evangelical Church, of Barger Lodge, No, 333, Free and Accepted Masons, and of the Knights of Malta. He was an active worker in the local Letter Carriers Association. He was treasurer of the John Hay Republican Association for the first five years.

There survives the widow, Sarah, nee Goranflo, Schantz; one daughter, Mrs. Frances, wife of Rev. M. S. Westphal, Lansdowne, and four sons, Charles C, Bethlehem; F. Pearson, Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.; Frederick H., Allentown, and Joseph H., New York.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Schantz, of Hayward, CA., and the following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. Hattie Fenstermacher, Mrs. Lillian Erich and Lee Schantz, Hayward Cal.; Fred Schantz, Oil City, and Howard Schantz and Mrs. Mary Lear. Easton. There are also seven grandchildren.
