Misc. Notes
Mrs. Annie R. Roth, one of the best-known of the older residents of Allentown, died July 14, 1930, at her home at 446 North Sixth Street, after a comparatively short illness. When she celebrated her eightieth birthday anniversary on May 16th, Mrs. Roth was still very active and greatly enjoyed receiving numerous friends. A fortnight ago she suffered a collapse due to advanced years, and since then was confined to the house, where she was constantly surrounded by members of her family.

Mrs. Roth was a lineal descendant of George and Ursula Rupp, who were among the thirty thousand in "Rupp's Names," and who settled at what is now Ruppsville, Upper Macungie Township. Of their nine children she was of the branch of Adam Herman Rupp, a Valley Forge soldier.

She was the oldest and last surviving of the children of the late Benjamin and Mary Rauch Rupp, and was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Wilson J. Hartzell, of Allentown, and four brothers, Dr. John D. Rupp, of Shoemakersville; Dr. Ben D. Rupp, of Wahoo, Neb.; Harry Benton Rupp, who died while a student at Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio, and Thomas Jefferson Rupp, of California. There was also one half-brother, George H. Rupp, who fifty years ago was a prominent member of the Lehigh County Bar.

As a little girl she attended the local schools, where her teacher was the late Senator Evan Holben and then went through the Moravian Seminary for Young Ladies at Bethlehem.

In 1871 she was married to William F. Roth, long editor of The Allentown Leader, who died in 1913. Her immediate survivors are two sons and one daughter, George R. Roth, present editor of The Leader; William F. Roth, Jr., of Newark, N. J., and Mrs. Fannie R. Murray, Allentown. One son preceded her in death, Leonard R. Roth, who was the father of her only grandson, George R. Roth, Jr., an attorney in the main offices of the Erie Railroad at Cleveland, Ohio.

She was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church.
