Joel Klotz, son of George Klotz, was born on the homestead in Lowhill township, 1813, died 1880, buried at Morgenland Lutheran church, of which he was an active member, serving in the capacity of deacon. He owned a farm on the road leading from Claussville to Fogelsville, where he kept a hotel for many years, and where in early times, Balzer Ftiz and later, Andrew Shiferstine, kept a store and hotel. He married Sallie Hausman, who died in 1877, aged sixty-one years.
