Nathan Kern, son of Henry Kern and grandson of Christopher and Susanna (Bauman) Kern, was born April 11, 1833, and died June 30, 1896. He was a farmer in Washington township. His farm was that now owned by Francis Remaly. He was a member of Frieden's Reformed church, where he and his wife were buried. He married Caroline Shirey, born Nov. 24, 1839, died June 4, 1899.
