Mrs. Emma Roberta (Jacoby) Haas, 80, died last night at her home, 1223 Hamilton St., after an illness of nearly eight months. She was the mother of Atty. Robert E. Haas, former president of the Allentown school board. Her husband, Nathan A. Haas, died in 1939. Mrs. Haas was born in Salisbury township, a daughter of the late John Milton and Elemina (Dubbs) Jacoby. She was valedictorian of the Allentown High school class of 1886 and started teaching in Allentown grade schools immediately following her graduation. A charter member of St. John's Reformed church, she was active in several phases of parish work. Mrs. Haas taught Sunday school there for many years and was a member of the King's Daughters of the church. Mrs. Haas was also affiliated with the Allentown Woman's club, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Allentown Hospital auxiliary. Surviving in addition to her son, Robert E. Haas, are a daughter, Mrs. Dalton Schwartz, of Allentown; a stepson, Harry E. Haas, of Allentown; a brother, George Jacoby, of Fullerton; and two grandchildren. A daughter, Ruth, died in 1912.
