William Blose, son of George was a carpenter and a contractor, residing in Slatedale. He was born Feb 22, 1837, and died May 29, 1883. He erected most of the buildings of his community during his time, employing as many as eighteen carpenters. Mr. Hose was also a slate operator. In the "Hersh Hill* also known as the Blue Mountain Vein Quarry, he employed twenty-five men. His death occurred by falling ninety-eight feet into the quarry which he operated. The accident was caused by the carnage slipping out of the catch and striking him as he stood along the edge of the quarry. In politics, he was a Republican, being the committeeman of his district many years and frequently a delegate to county conventions. He was married to Sallie, a daughter of Henry Hoffman.
