Misc. Notes
Howard Shimer Seip, D.D.S., by his sudden death on December 22, 1939, brought to a close a lifelong loyalty to Muhlenberg College.

He was the son of the Rev. Dr. Theodore Lorenzo Seip, the second president of the College, and was born in Bath, Pa., September 17, 1866. He was reared within sight of the old college buildings, prepared for college in its academic department and was graduated from the college in 1885.

Upon completion of his professional training in dental surgery in 1887 at the University of Pennsylvania, he enjoyed ever since a large practice in the city of Allentown.

He was a prominent member of the Board of Trustees of the College during three administrations extending over a period of thirty-five years and covering the transition from the former location to the present enlarged development. In the College Athletic Board, he was an untiring member and no less also in the Alumni Association. He was prominent in various professional associations. His church, namely, St. John's Lutheran, also claimed a great deal of his sincere devotion, once serving as a vestry-man. A son and a daughter preceded him in death, leaving only his wife, Anna, nee Anewalt. and a grandson as his survivors. Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery, Allentown.
