Note in LDS:
William S. Packer, II, made his forture in the fur trade. He was an orignal trustee of the Brooklyn Female Academy when it was founded in 1845. He died about 1850. When the Academy burnt to the ground in the early 1850s, Harriet gave it $65,000 if it would rebuid and names tha school after her late husband, hence Packer Collegiate Institute, It is still going strong as a K-12 school but it has been coed since the 1970s.
