Lucille Hudsco Lambert, 78, a retired Catasauqua High School English teacher from Catasauqua, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009 in Allentown. She was an 11-year survivor of pancreatic cancer. Lucille was a graduate of Arcadia (Beaver) University where she was the editor of the literary magazine and active in many campus activities. She did post graduate work at Pennsylvania State University, Rutgers University and Lehigh University that culminated in a masters degree. Lucille served as an English teacher at Catasauqua High School for 31 years before retiring in 1993. There she established their literary magazine, the Drum, in 1976 and served as the publications faculty advisor, helping the magazine earn numerous state and national awards until her retirement. She also served as the faculty advisor to the National Honor society at the high school and when she was the schools year book advisor, the book won national honors. She took great pride in her profession and has been remembered by many of her classes for that over the years. Most recently she was honored by the class of 1956 at their 50th class reunion. They established the Lucille Lambert award for graduating seniors. Outside of her professional life, she was a lifelong member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Catasauqua, where she served on church council and taught Sunday school and vacation bible school for many years. Lucille was a member of the Catasauqua Womens Club, the Civil War Roundtable of Eastern Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
