Married Anna Dudley on 25 November 1767 in Guilford, Connecticut.
Timothy served in the Lexington, Massachusetts Alarm and was part of the Connecticut Continental militia during the Revolutionary War. He was a private in Captain Andrew Ward's Company and later served as a Lieutenant in the 7th Regiment under Colonel William Worthington. Also served as a Lieutenant in Captain Peter Vail's Company of Connecticut Coast Guards, which protected Long Island Sound and where he eventually achieved the rank of Captain.
Worked as a farmer and held several local offices in Madison, Connecticut.
