Tony Casenelli died suddenly Oct. 4, 2016. He was born on Jan. 12, 1953 in Massachusetts. Tony attended the U.S. Naval Academy studying weapons engineering for 3 years before enlisting as a Navy Seal. He served two tours of duty in the Vietnam war and received, among other medals, a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with Valor. After leaving the Navy, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard for many years. Tony is survived by his wife of 37 years Joan, their children Jill Havunen and John Casenelli. Also surviving him are his son-in-law Dale Havunen and two beloved granddaughters, Serena and Kaitlin. Three siblings: Mark Casenelli, Chris Casenelli, and Avis Vandegrift-Fisher also survive him. He was predeceased by a brother, Leo Casenelli. Tony worked at Pratt & Whitney for 33 years and most recently, at GE Alstom in S. Windsor. He was known for his quirky sense of humor and knowledge of obscure facts. A service to celebrate Tony's life will be held on October 29, 2016 at 3pm at the Westfield Congregational Church, 210 Main St, Danielson, CT. The reception will be held immediately following at the church.
