This Abraham Marsh is a descendant of Samuel Marsh, my early colonial ancestor and 11th generation, 8th grandfather who came to Boston in 1641, to New Haven, CT a year later, became a Freeman in 1647, married, had seven children then became one of the 80 Original Elizabethtown Associates who pioneered New Jersey. This line of Marsh family was a predominant family that helped established Elizabeth, Westfield, Rahway, Perth Amboy and many other township up to and beyond the Revolutionary War. John Marsh, Samuel's youngest son, was given 600 acres along the Rahway River to build a dam, a saw mill and grist Mill. He Married Elizabeth Clark whose father was a ship builder and another predominant pioneer for this area and grandfather to Abraham Clark, a signer of the Declaration of Independence
