William S. Davies, 79, of 317 Springhouse Road, Allentown, died Thursday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center. He was the husband of Carrie (Marshall) Davies.
He was a free-lance writer for the Call-Chronicle Newspapers before retiring in 1966. He also was program director and radio announcer for WSAN, Whitehall Township, 1936-52.


Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of the late James and Elizabeth (Snyder) Davies.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving with his widow are a son, Marshall Schuon of Long Island, N.Y., and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 3rd and Walnut streets, Catasauqua. A calling hour will precede the services.
