Zopher Blakslee, was a native of Vermont, but the greater portion of his life was spent in Susquehanna county, Pennsylvania. He was provided with excellent educational advantages for that day, attending some of the best schools in the neighborhood. He chose agriculture as a means of livelihood, and was identified with farming interests in the state of Pennsylvania throughout his active career.
