"...John H K left Easton to work for the Maryland Steel Co and later the Bethlehem Steel Co at Sparrows Point until is death in 1934.He was always quite proud of his Eastern Shore heritage and with two other Shore men founded the Eastern Shore Society of Baltimore. he was also the author of two books dealing with the Shore, 'Tales of Old Maryland' and 'Steamboatin' Days', as well as many articles that appeared in the Baltimore Sun. At Western Maryland College he played halfback of the football team because of his speed. His father watching his first football game was amazed at the sport and observed that he had survived the Civil War but he was sure his son would not survive that game!"
