Monica was a life-long parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Catasauqua. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in Allentown, she was employed at General Ribbon Mills and Blossom Products as an executive secretary.

Monica married the love of her life, Newt Bugbee, on January 22, 1949.

Over the years, Monica was very active in many civic organizations. As chair of the Catasauqua Shade Tree Commission, she was instrumental in having Catasauqua gain the distinction of "Tree City USA." Monica was passionate about local history and was an active member of the Lehigh County Historical Society. She worked as executive secretary to many directors of the society. Later, she worked as Assistant Librarian of the society helping members research their genealogies. Monica was active in the restoration of the George Taylor House in Catasauqua. She co-chaired the committee to have the Taylor House designated a National Historic Landmark. Monica also worked as a librarian at the Whitehall Township Public Library.
