Marriage Note:
Miss Ruth T. McKee, daughter of Ruth T. McKee, Pine and Fourth Streets, and John I. McVey, of Bethlehem, were united in marriage in St. John's Roman Catholic church, Philadelphia, by the rector, Rev. Francis X. Wastl, on Saturday. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Mary McKee, and the best man was Lieut. Bertrand McVey, brother of the bridegroom. The bride was charmingly dressed in a traveling gown of grey crepe meteor, with ensemble of grey, and wore a corsage of orchids. After a two weeks' motor trip, the newly wedded couple will take up their residence at 1034 New street, Bethlehem. Mr. McVey is an engineer in the bridge construction department of the Bethlehem Steel Company.

Church name given as St. John the Evangelist in (John I.). There is also a notation that Thos. J. Ryan was the presiding priest.

According to her daughter Ruth, Ruth Thomas (McKee) McVey took a secretarial course when she was a young woman and was known to be a very good typist. During World War I, she and her friends worked as hospital volunteers or packed parcels for the soldiers overseas. She also took a typing job at Bethlehem Steel, but this job ended when the war was over and the men returned home. Back in those days, a proper lady didn't work. Artistic like her mother Ruth (Thomas) McKee, Ruth also went to art school at the Chase School of Design in Manhattan where she specialized in costume design. She was apparently very good at children's clothes and won a prize for her efforts. She was encouraged to interview for the position of a children's clothing designer at a top New York City firm. But Ruth never did work as a designer. Probably angry over the lack of familial encouragement, Ruth destroyed almost all of her artwork and never painted again. Ruth was also an athletic young woman, enjoying swimming, tennis and golf. She was also a fine bridge player.
