AT&T Consumer/Classic Services December, 2001 - present

Voice-over-IP Product Manager – Customer Premises Equipment Product Manager for AT&T CallVantage Voice-over-IP Service. Led the 21-member cross-functional, cross-organizational team that developed, tested, and deployed telephone adapters and related VoIP devices.
Authored the Product Requirements for all devices.
Managed 11 VoIP devices/telephone adapters in the development and deployment pipeline.
Completed deployments on time and within budget.
Created the Device Deployment Process for use in coordinating the cross-organizational efforts needed to introduce new CallVantage Service devices.

Fiber-to-the-Home Web Portal and Video Service Product Manager – Managed the planning and development of the web portal and video business for a 140,000+ households-passed FTTH deployment in Utah.
Wrote the Product Requirements for the Web Portal and Video Service.
Managed the development effort of the web portal, coordinating between the FTTH network operator, AT&T Labs, Product Management, content providers, and AT&T Worldnet Service to create the multimedia front-end of the high-speed data business. Features included video-on-demand through the Web, customizable online program guides, integrated Voice-over IP, email and search capabilities, and multimedia content imported from Worldnet Service.
Led the video service development effort between virtual network operator, set-top box manufacturer, program management software developer, TV head-end, and content providers.
Managed compliance effort between legal, government affairs, virtual network operator, and Utah municipalities.
Wrote the repair and maintenance process flows for the full “triple-play” (video, voice, internet) business.

Wi-Fi Service Trial Manager – Led a cross-functional, cross-organizational team that designed, built, and conducted a public trial of W-Fi Internet access through public “hot spots”
Created the Product Requirements for the service.
Planned and launched the service introduction in 50 days.
Managed the trial budget process. Delivered all trial phases on time and at 60% of budgeted trial funding amount.
Reduced the team size from over 50 down to a core group of 14 AT&T personnel, freeing resources for other efforts.
Wrote the test scenarios for the initial launch of the product.
Achieved a 16% contribution margin (positive) by trial conclusion. Product went cash flow positive in its fourth month of operation.

Voice-over-DSL Service Readiness Trial Manager - Responsible for the organization and management of the Service Readiness Test for the Voice-over-DSL product.
Managed planning, staffing, budget, scheduling, and cross-organizational partnering necessary to certify network and systems integration for this new DSL-based service.

AT&T Laboratories (known as AT&T Bell Laboratories until 1996) May, 1993 – November, 2001
The following are descriptions of the projects with which I was involved:

AT&T Consumer Services Product Management, February, 2001 - November, 2001: Coordinated New Product Introduction of a prepaid phone card product for the College and University market segment. Organized resources from development, marketing, testing, and external (vendor) groups to meet the target delivery date.

Office of the CTO, January, 1999 - January, 2001: Responsible for cross-business unit Strategy Planning. Organized cross-functional teams to develop industry perspectives and internal strategy roadmaps for both the near- and long-term time horizons. Formulated technology strategies, product pipelines, and research plans. The position combined technical understanding and creativity in order to evaluate viable business alternatives, with the business acumen to optimize the product portfolio.

AT&T Network Services, May, 1997 - January, 1999: AT&T 800 Gold Service Trial Project Manager. Met aggressive delivery requirements set by Product Management despite dealing with a new platform technology and a hardware vendor which had no prior experience with AT&T's service realization requirements and rigorous quality methodology. Responsible for managing the activities of both the domestic AT&T development team, and the vendor's European-based engineering group.

Consumer Communications Services Product Management, January, 1995 - April, 1997: Involved in a project management and business development capacity for AT&T Digital Long Distance Service (long-distance, residential ISDN service). Developed with another Labs associate the first AT&T e-commerce site on the Internet, which allowed customers to subscribe to the service on-line. Developed a market plan to bundle AT&T ISDN service with local ISDN service and customer premises equipment (CPE).

Business Communications Services, October, 1994 - December, 1994: Responsible for the Project and Process Management duties for a project focused on reducing concept-to-contract cycle time within the business services sales force. The project was successfully completed ahead of schedule, and on budget.

Consumer Video Services, May, 1993 - September, 1994: Provided Business Case Development and Project Management support for this Multimedia Products and Services business unit. Completed a business case for a proposed national consumer videotelephony service. The work involved coordinating a cross-business unit team consisting of functions ranging from network engineering and hardware development, to financial management and marketing.
