As a child Wendy enjoyed taking dancing lessons and attending church camp during that time. She resided in East Hartford and then Westbrook, CT during her childhood; she graduated from Westbrook H. S. in 1961. Wendy studied business at Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island in the early 1960’s. She then joined the working world at the United Technologies Research Center where she would meet her husband John McVey. She would later be employed by Manpower, Inc. in Boston for one year, then by Holidays Unlimited in South Glastonbury, CT, where she was a travel agent for five years. Later she was employed by the Glastonbury Citizen for 2-1/2 years where she worked in the advertising department which produced The Wooden Nutmeg, an antique and collectibles journal.

From 1984 to 2004 Wendy was employed as a licensed realtor for the Prudential Connecticut Realty Company. Wendy’s talent as a realtor has been rewarded by her company by election to three of their top societies, The Leader’s edge, The Winner’s Circle, and The President’s Circle. Wendy has been very active over the years in her church, first St. James Episcopal in Glastonbury, CT and then at The Jackson Community Church in Jackson, NH. In Glastonbury she served on the church’s vestry and was the leader of the high school youth group for four years; in Jackson she serves on the vestry and other organizations.

Wendy’s interests and hobbies include traveling extensively in both the U.S. and Europe, gardening, hiking, and snowshoeing. She is a member of the 4000 Footer Club, a designation given by the Appalachian Mountain Club, having hiked forty-seven of the New Hampshire’s mountains.

Now a full-time Jackson resident, Wendy is active in the Mountain Garden Club and the Jackson Historical Society. In 2013 she directed the Art-in-Bloom event which featured more than 50 Garden Club members’s offerings at six of Jackson’s businesses. Wendy is also seving as a Deacon at the Jackson Community Church.
