Catasauqua Directories

 

Several companies published directories giving the names of people living in Catasauqua in during the time period from 1877 through 1929.  According to the members of the Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association who collected these publications, the actual books are available at the Lehigh County Historical Society, and they are on microfilm at the Allentown Public Library. The above is a segment of the 1895 Directory published by Haines and Worman. The third name down from the top is James Thomas, son of Hopkin Thomas. At the time, he was working for the Davies and Thomas Foundry, which he and George Davies formed. His home was located at 17 South Second Street. His wifeÕs name was Mary Ann (Davies). You will note that his daughter Helen and sons Hopkin and Roland D. also lived in the house with their parents in the year1895.
